Awana T&T Children Make a Global Impact Through Compassion International

At Arbor Christian Fellowship, we are filled with joy and gratitude as we reflect on the incredible generosity of our Awana T&T (Truth and Training) children. These young hearts have taken the lessons they've learned through their Awana program and turned them into a tangible act of compassion, all while growing in their understanding of God's love and His command to care for those in need.

This year, our Awana T&T children used their hard-earned Awana Dollars to make a real difference in the lives of children living in poverty around the world. By memorizing Bible verses each week, the children earned Awana Dollars—play money that represents their dedication to God’s Word. Instead of spending their Awana Dollars on toys or treats, these kids chose to “shop” through the Compassion Christmas Catalogue, using their funds to purchase life-changing items that will make an eternal impact.

Through their generosity, the children were able to buy:

  • Bibles for children in other countries, helping spread the Gospel to those who may not otherwise have access to Scripture

  • Chickens, providing families with a sustainable source of food and income

  • Water Wells, ensuring communities have access to clean drinking water

  • Seeds, enabling families to grow their own food and improve their livelihoods

  • Water Filtration Systems, offering safe water for families who live in areas where clean water is scarce

  • Food for Moms and Babies, giving nourishment to those in desperate need

  • Other essential items, meeting basic needs that can bring hope to children and families living in poverty

“Instead of spending their Awana Dollars on toys, the children chose to shop through the Compassion Christmas Catalogue, purchasing life-changing gifts like Bibles, water wells, and chickens for children in need around the world.”

What makes this effort even more meaningful is that the children’s Awana Dollars, which initially served as a tool to encourage Scripture memorization, were transformed into real-world funds thanks to the generosity of our congregation and the efforts of our church. We were able to match the children’s Awana Dollars, turning them into actual money to purchase these critical items for children in need.

As a church, we are not only thankful for the Awana program but also deeply appreciative of Compassion International and the incredible work they do to lift children out of poverty in the name of Jesus. Their programs have been a beacon of hope for countless children around the world, offering opportunities for education, healthcare, and spiritual growth.

We are also grateful to God for allowing us to partner with Him in such a powerful way. This experience has been a beautiful reminder of Jesus' words in Matthew 6:20, “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.” Through their actions, these young children have not only blessed others on earth, but they have also stored up treasures in heaven.

At Arbor Christian Fellowship, we believe that the best way to grow in Christ is through both learning and action. The Awana T&T children have set a shining example for all of us by taking what they've learned and using it to serve others. Their selfless giving is a testament to the powerful impact that Scripture memorization and discipleship can have, not just in their own lives, but in the lives of those around the world.

As we celebrate their generosity, we pray that their hearts will continue to grow in love, compassion, and a desire to serve the Lord. We are excited to see how God will use these children to further His kingdom and bring hope to the world.

To the families, leaders, and volunteers who make the Awana program possible at Arbor Christian Fellowship, thank you for helping to nurture these young hearts. We are all blessed by the example these children have set.

Let’s continue to support our kids in their spiritual growth, equipping them to impact the world with the love and hope of Jesus Christ.
